Every year on or around Jerry Garcia's birthday, the original members of Santa Cruz's renowned Jerry Band cover band Shady Groove reunite for a show at Moe's Alley to celebrate Jerry's music and birthday.

Santa Cruz's original psychedelic torchbearers return to Moe's Alley for what has become an annual gathering of the Deadhead tribes, both young and old. As hosts of the Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration, the all-original lineup of Shady Groove invites all to join in a musical and dancing tribute to the man and the music that have provided inspiration and fulfillment to generations of free minded individuals the world over. Garcia and Shady Groove have both earned very special places in the hearts of the Santa Cruz music community. Featuring Bret Bailey on drums, Jerry Brown on guitar and vocals, Dave Faulkner on Hammond organ, Matt Hartle on lead guitar, and Jimmy Hubbard on bass.
